Executive Producer of Breaking Banks/ Fintech5
Rachel Morrissey is the producer and co-creator of Breaking Banks and has produced over 200 episodes. When Brett and she launched the show in May 2013, it was the first global fintech podcast and has served as a launching pad for Fintech5, Serial Intrapreneur, and Fintech Snark Tank. She works with all the hosts to help create interesting, vital content that is extremely current with evergreen principles behind it.
Before her life as a producer, Rachel was a lobbyist and political action committee director in Washington, DC for 10 years in various areas including sugar policy, trade, energy, and bond issues. And prior to that, she worked on “the Hill”. She is still obsessed about politics, but tries as best as she can to keep it out of the show. Her understanding of policy, regulatory processes, and political movement does surface.
She also worked as a stage actress in Washington, DC at several theater companies.
She has her BA in History and BA in Theater from Utah State University and her MA in Media Studies from The New School, focusing on audio and on the body in virtual space. She is passionate about storytelling and the changing nature of our lives as we incorporate technology into our minds and bodies. She is addicted to politics, both current and historical, which could dangerously lead to other addictions if she doesn’t pry herself away from podcasts and twitter on a regular basis and find a clean beach or a mountain lake where she can hide and read great fiction.
